State Senate

Maine has 35 State Senators

Senate Members are elected by the people to represent the interests of the people. One Senator represents each district.

Maine has 35 Districts with populations ranging widely by county.

Maine's northern districts have sparse populations spread out over a larger area in comparison to Maine's southern districts that are more densely populated.

Currently, 22 Democrats and 13 Republicans make up the Maine Senate.

The Senate elects a President, a Secretary, and an Assistant Secretary, who serve as chief administrative officers.
